About Bascomb Elementary School

Bascomb Elementary

Our Mission Statement:

Bascomb Elementary School is dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment, giving all children the opportunity to reach their highest level of achievement. This will be accomplished through effective teaching and the ongoing use of technology. Bascomb Elementary will strive to create lifelong learners through the combined efforts of teacher, student, parent and community involvement.

History:

Bascomb Elementary School is located in Woodstock, Cherokee County, Georgia approximately 30 miles north of Atlanta. Bascomb opened in 1995 as a K – 6 school when the growth in the Towne Lake community required an additional elementary school to alleviate overcrowding. Bascomb opened with 1150 students and quickly grew over the next 5 years to 1,700+ to become the largest elementary school in the state of Georgia. Because the other elementary schools in the Etowah Zones were also overcrowded, Chapman Intermediate School opened in 2000 for grades 5 & 6 and Bascomb became a K – 4 school. With the opening of the new ET Booth Middle School facility as a 6 – 8 school in 2013-14, fifth grade returned to Bascomb.
